Ex Terminal Boxes

Ex Junction and Terminal  Boxes

ATEX / IECEx terminal boxes for Ex Zones 1/2 and 21/22. Each Ex terminal box is equiped with glands, terminals and other components according to customers’ requirements (we can also use components form 3rd party manufacturers). Ex Terminal Boxes (explosion-protected boxes) can be made of aluminium, stainless steel, glassfiber reinforced polyester (GRP).

Ex e or Ex t junction boxes – which one to choose?

Ex e explosion-protected terminal box provides an impact resistant enclosure for electrical equipment and ensure that the contents will not produce a spark or temperature which could ignite the external flammable atmosphere in a hazardous area Zone. This type of Ex terminal boxes can be used for flammable gases, vapors and dusts.

Ex t explosion-protected terminal boxe prevents combustible dust (IIIC) penetration into the enclosure and ensures surface temperature limitation for use in explosive dust atmospheres. This type of Ex terminal boxes is intended for use with flammable dusts only.

Glass fibre reinforced polyester used to manufacture the HTBP series terminal boxes have been selected to grant the maximum protection against highly corrosive agents and maximum UV protection. Cover screws are made of stainless steel AISI 316L. Cover gasket is made of silicone. Internal mounting screws are made of non-corrosive material. Wide variety of enclosure sizes allows to accommodate all customers' requests.

What is an ATEX / IECEx junction box?

An explosion-protected (ATEX / IECEx certified) junction box is a type of electrical enclosure designed to contain sparks, flames, or heat generated by electrical equipment inside the box to prevent them from igniting explosive gases, vapors, or dust in the surrounding environment. These junction boxes are constructed from materials which are resistant to high temperatures, corrosion and impact.

Where to use ATEX / IECEx junction boxes?

Explosion-protected junction boxes are commonly used in hazardous environments such as oil refineries, chemical processing plants, power generation plants, water treatment facilities and offshore installations where the presence of flammable gases, vapors or dust creates a risk of explosion. They are also used in other applications where there is a risk of sparks or heat generating, such as in grain silos, paper mills and painting booths.

Why to use an ATEX / IECEx junction box?

It is essential to use explosion-protected junction boxes in such hazardous environments as they ensure that electrical equipment operates safely without causing any explosion or fire. Failure to use explosion-protected junction boxes can lead to catastrophic consequences, including loss of life, property damage and environmental contamination.

ATEX junction boxes

ATEX junction boxes are electrical devices that have been designed and manufactured in compliance with the ATEX Directive. The ATEX Directive is a set of EU regulations which requires explosion-protected equipment to be designed and tested to ensure they can be safely used for such applications.

ATEX certified junction boxes are built to withstand harsh environmental conditions and provide critical protection for workers and equipment in hazardous environments. They are typically constructed from materials which are resistant to high temperatures, corrosion and impact.

By using ATEX certified junction boxes you can ensure that your equipment operates safely without causing any explosion or fire. They are commonly used in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, power generation, food processing and mining, where the presence of flammable gases, vapors or dust creates a risk of explosion.

When choosing ATEX certified junction boxes it’s important to consider factors such as the environment in which they will be used, the type of equipment they will be protecting and the specific ATEX Zone requirements. ATEX certified junction boxes are available in a range of sizes and configurations to suit different applications and requirements.

Investing in ATEX certified junction boxes is crucial to ensuring safety and compliance with regulatory requirements. They offer a reliable and robust solution to protect personnel and equipment in hazardous areas and can provide peace of mind for those working in high-risk industries.

IECEx junction boxes

IECEx junction boxes are electrical enclosures which have been designed and tested in compliance with the International Electrotechnical Commission’s (IEC) standards for explosive atmospheres. These junction boxes are certified by IECEx, an international certification system for equipment used in explosive atmospheres.

Compared to other types of explosion-protected junction boxes, IECEx certified junction boxes offer unique advantages. They are designed and built to withstand harsh environmental conditions and provide critical protection for workers and equipment in hazardous areas. They are typically constructed from materials which are resistant to high temperatures, corrosion and impact.

One of the primary benefits of IECEx certified junction boxes is their international recognition. IECEx certification is recognized in over 30 countries, making them an excellent choice for companies operating in multiple regions. They also offer flexibility in design with a wide range of sizes and configurations available to suit different applications and requirements.

By using IECEx certified junction boxes you can ensure that your equipment operates safely without causing any explosion or fire. They are commonly used in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing and mining, where the presence of flammable gases, vapors or dust creates a risk of explosion.

Investing in IECEx certified junction boxes is essential to ensure safety and compliance with regulatory requirements. They offer a reliable and robust solution to protect personnel and equipment in hazardous areas and can provide peace of mind for those working in high-risk industries. Choosing IECEx certified junction boxes demonstrates a commitment to safety and responsible manufacturing practices which can be beneficial for business reputation and customer trust.
