About Ex Glands
Ex unarmoured cable glands are high-quality components that provide safe cable connections in hazardous areas. Thanks to their nickel-plated brass, stainless steel or aluminum construction, they are resistant to corrosion and mechanical damage. This makes them ideal for applications in the chemical and petrochemical industries and on oil rigs. EX cable glands must be properly certified and properly sized for use in explosive areas. They must also be approved for the selected cable type and suitable for the specific application, expected ambient temperatures, local climate, environmental exposure and any other adverse conditions.
What is an Ex cable gland?
Ex cable glands are key components of safety systems used in industry to ensure the safety of personnel and infrastructure in areas where flammable or explosive substances are a potential hazard. Their use contributes to minimizing the risk of explosion by controlling the flow of substances or energy in a way that prevents the potential for ignition of explosive atmospheres. Ex glands provide an airtight seal, preventing flammable substances from entering the equipment enclosure, which is key to protecting against the risk of explosion. With a design designed to withstand extreme conditions such as high pressures and temperatures, unarmoured cable glands offer high mechanical resistance and long service life. This translates into lower operating costs and long-term reliability.
HARDO unarmoured cable gland
HCG1 series of unarmoured cable gland can be used in Zones 1/21 and 2/22 and are made according IEC standards. All HARDO Ex cable glands are ATEX and IECEx certified. They offer Ex e, Ex d and Ex t protection types as well as IP 66/68 rating. HARDO Ex cable glands are available in a variety of sizes (M16 to M90) and thread types including metric and NPT.
