Ex HSP1P 32 W-SCT wall-mounted sockets for potentially explosive atmospheres
The HSP1P 32 W-SCT wall-mounted sockets have been designed to provide a safe power supply to electrical equipment in areas where there is a risk of gas or dust explosions. They are suitable for use in Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22, as well as in demanding industrial environments – such as those with high humidity, high dust levels, low temperatures or the presence of corrosive agents.
To switch on the power, you must turn the plug in the socket. It remains mechanically locked in place throughout operation and can only be removed once the socket has been disconnected from the mains.
Mechanical lock for plugs in Ex sockets
The challenge
Pulling the plug out whilst electricity is flowing may cause an electric arc. Where flammable gases, vapours or dust are present in the air, such an arc poses a real ignition hazard.
How it works
HSP1P 32 W-SCT sockets prevent the plug from being removed whilst the circuit remains live.

3. Number and arrangement of contacts

The challenge
Equipment installed outdoors is exposed to rain, snow, dust, damp, condensation and fluctuating temperatures.
How it works
The IP66 protection rating of the HSP1P 32 W-SCT sockets effectively protects the interior against dust and powerful jets of water.
Silicone seals are resistant to:
- low temperatures,
- high temperature,
- ageing processes,
- changeable weather conditions.
Once the plug has been removed, the socket must be covered with a protective cap – effective protection of the entire installation also depends on the correct fitting of cable glands and end caps.
