456 stainless steel junction boxes for lighting installations for Zone 1 hazardous areas
One of the large European LPG warehouses ordered 456 HARDO stainless steel junction boxes. In total, we will be delivering over a thousand explosion-proof junction boxes to this facility!
Ninety-eight percent of all boxes will be made of stainless steel and the rest from GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic). All components, from casings to terminal blocks to cable glands, will be made to the explosion-proof standard (ATEX and IECEx certified).
Ex boxes for Zone 1 increase explosion safety
Although the areas where the devices will operate have been designated as Zone 2 areas, the investor decided to increase the safety of the facility by using devices certified for Zone 1. This is becoming an increasingly common practice among risk-aware corporations
Solution used in the project
Ex junction boxes for lighting installation in LPG warehouses
A large portion of the order will be used for the lighting installation of a LPG storage tank and compressor station. The boxes will be equipped with terminal blocks and cable glands according to the customer’s specifications.
ATEX junction boxes in 16 variants
As part of the order, we will make as many as 16 variants of boxes. They will differ with three different sets of parameters:
dimensions,
number of terminals,
quantity and size of cable glands.
The devices will use stainless steel cable glands M20, M25, and M32 (also ATEX and IECEx certified) intended for reinforced and regular cables.
