Explosion-proof terminal boxes [zone 0, 1, 2, 21, 22]
HARDO manufactures customized explosion-proof terminal boxes for zones 0, 1, 2 (for gases and vapors) and 21, 22 (for dust). You have full control over the selection of the type, size and mounting location of glands and cable terminals. We perform thermal analysis for each box and issue ATEX and IECEx certificates. Explosion-proof boxes can be made of aluminum, stainless steel or fiberglass-reinforced polyester.
Glass fibre reinforced polyester used to manufacture the HTBP series terminal boxes have been selected to grant the maximum protection against highly corrosive agents and maximum UV protection. Cover screws are made of stainless steel AISI 316L. Cover gasket is made of silicone. Internal mounting screws are made of non-corrosive material. Wide variety of enclosure sizes allows to accommodate all customers' requests.

Application of Ex explosion-proof terminal boxes
Ex terminal boxes are indispensable in many industrial sectors where safety is a key aspect, including the chemical, oil and gas industries and where manufacturing processes generate or use substances that can create an explosive atmosphere. Their use helps ensure not only the safety of workers, but also the protection of equipment and the prevention of potential industrial disasters. Ex terminal boxes are designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. These devices allow a safe electrical connection between electrical wires ensuring that none of the components of the equipment will not be a source of ignition. The high level of safety is confirmed by international ATEX and IECEx certificates.
Safety features of Ex terminal boxes
The design of our Ex terminal boxes prevents any sparks or excessive heating of their housing, thereby eliminating the risk of them becoming a source of ignition of an explosive atmosphere.
Protection of Ex terminal boxes against electrostatic sparks
Enclosures of HARDO boxes are made of materials that do not accumulate electrostatic charges, such as aluminum alloys, stainless steel or high-quality plastic with dispersing properties. Steel and aluminum enclosures have the necessary grounding.
Protection of Ex boxes against excessive heat
The components inside the Ex-boxes and their number and number of circuits, as well as the size of the boxes, are selected in such a way that they do not generate excessive temperatures. The aforementioned selection is the result of appropriate calculations that we make before prefabrication of each type of box (boxes are made to individual order as single pieces or low-, or medium-quantity series).
Protection of Ex boxes against electric sparks
To avoid ignition as a result of jumping electric sparks, all components inside Ex boxes have adequate protection confirmed by ATEX and IECEx certificates.
Protection of Ex boxes against mechanical damage
Mechanical resistance is another important aspect taken into account in the process of certification of Ex boxes. For this reason, we make the enclosures of the equipment from stainless steel, aluminum alloy or fiberglass-reinforced plastic.
