Ex/ATEX boxes for Zone 2 are made of GRP, electropolished AISI 316L stainless steel, or aluminum. They can be equipped with cable glands, terminal rails, terminals, and various other components, including switches, lights, voltmeters, and ammeters. The devices have IP66/67 protection and can operate in temperatures ranging from -50°C to +95°C. They can be used as splitter and junction boxes, as well as for the construction of various types of switches, control boxes, or equipment enclosures. Ex boxes for Zone 21 are used in harsh environments, including the power, wood, chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

Glass fibre reinforced polyester used to manufacture the HTBP series terminal boxes have been selected to grant the maximum protection against highly corrosive agents and maximum UV protection. Cover screws are made of stainless steel AISI 316L. Cover gasket is made of silicone. Internal mounting screws are made of non-corrosive material. Wide variety of enclosure sizes allows to accommodate all customers' requests.

Zone 21 Ex/ATEX terminal box

The Ex/ATEX terminal box zone 21 is a group of devices designed for safe electrical installation in areas where explosive atmospheres, caused by the presence of flammable gases and/or liquid vapors, may occur. These conditions are encountered in virtually every industry. Our Ex boxes are ATEX and IECEx certified.

The use of three different construction materials - GRP, aluminum, and stainless steel - makes these boxes suitable for various environments characterized by different levels of corrosion exposure:

  • GRP Ex Zone 21 terminal boxes are made of fiberglass-reinforced polyester, providing high chemical and weather resistance. Their lightweight design makes them easy to install, while still offering reliability in harsh environments.

  • Aluminum Zone 21 terminal boxescombine the durability and lightness of aluminum with advanced technologies to ensure safety in Ex zones. They are the ideal solution when both corrosion resistance and ease of installation are required.

  • Stainless steel Zone 21 terminal boxes offer the highest level of protection due to the use of stainless steel, which provides exceptional resistance to the most aggressive environments and high mechanical strength. They are ideal for applications where hygiene and cleanliness are critical, as well as in extreme conditions.

All box variants are suitable for use in Zone 21, ensuring maximum safety in hazardous areas. With a wide range of sizes and configurations, Ex/ATEX boxes for Zone 21 can be customized to meet the specific needs of each installation, making them a versatile solution for a variety of industrial applications.

Why is an Ex box crucial to safety?

The Ex box provides protection for electrical installations in areas where a potentially explosive atmosphere is present. Offering a variety of materials - from lightweight and corrosion-resistant glass-reinforced polyester (GRP), to durable and lightweight aluminum, to extremely resistant stainless steel terminal boxes - Ex boxes are the ideal choice for any type of application in ATEX zones.

Ex terminal box material design for zone 21

Choosing the right Ex terminal box, whether made of GRP, aluminum or stainless steel, is crucial to ensuring maximum safety. Each of these materials offers specific advantages, such as high chemical resistance, ease of installation or exceptional mechanical durability. This makes the terminal box suitable for specific installation needs.
