ATEX gland
ATEX gland is a specialized mechanical device that plays a key role in electrical installations located in hazardous areas. Its main task is to protect cable connections, while ensuring the tightness and integrity of the enclosures to which they are connected. It allows safely inserting cables into electrical, instrumentation, control and automation equipment, protecting against the penetration of flammable gases, dust and moisture.
Design and materials
An ATEX gland can be made of various materials, including metals (stainless steel, nickel-plated brass) and corrosion-resistant plastics. The choice of material depends on the environment, in which it will operate. In explosive atmospheres, it is necessary for a gland to be corrosion resistant and to withstand extreme temperatures and other adverse conditions.
HCG2 series of cable glands for armoured cables is available in a variety of sizes ranging from M16 to M90 and thread types including metric and NPT. They are an excellent option for enteering cables into enclosures, cable strain relief, sealing enclosures and assisting in dust, moisture and water protection, as well as for industrial applications where there is significant contamination by water, vibration or extreme temperatures.

ATEX gland features
Selection according to certification
ATEX glands must be certified in accordance with relevant safety standards (e.g. IEC 60079-14). It is important that they are properly selected for the cable type, installation specifications and environmental conditions. Certification ensures that the gland meets all explosion protection requirements, which is crucial for the safety of installations in hazardous areas.
Application in industry
ATEX glands are indispensable in many industries, such as chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and mining. They provide critical protection in environments where there is a risk of explosion, protecting both personnel and equipment from potential hazards.
ATEX glands are an indispensable component of electrical systems in hazardous areas. Thanks to their design, corrosion-resistant materials and compliance with international safety standards, they ensure the reliability and durability of installations in the most demanding conditions. Choosing the right ATEX gland is crucial to ensuring the safety and efficiency of electrical systems in harsh and hazardous environments.
