Service safety – the LOTO system

Ex HARDO isolation switches allow the knob to be locked in the “OFF” position with three padlocks – LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) compliant.

Prevent accidental switching on

Possibility of simultaneous locking by several persons

OSHA compliant, EN 1037

Simple and integrated operation

Category of use: AC-3 / AC-23

HARDO’s ATEX isolating switches have an AC-3 and AC-23 use category according to IEC 60947-3, which means that they can also be used as operating switches (load disconnectors and switches operating under load) as well as safety switches.

Characteristics:

AC-3: control of squirrel-cage motors – starting and stopping during operation

AC-23: inductive loads (motors, transformers) – frequent disconnection under load

Using an isolating switch that meets these requirements eliminates the need for additional operating disconnectors or switches. In this way, the HARDO isolation switch functions simultaneously as a main power disconnector, operating switch and safety element, resulting in simplified installation and increased system reliability.

Construction and durability of SMC composite housing

The housing of the Ex HARDO isolation switches is made of a high-performance glass fibre-reinforced SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound). This material offers exceptional durability and resistance to environmental influences.

SMC material properties:

mechanical resistance: up to 90% of original strength after 20 years

Compliant with ISO 4892 (UV, temperature, humidity)

UL 746C certification

Thermal and electrical insulation

Chemical and fire resistance

No corrosion, no maintenance

Low weight – easy installation

High surface durability

ATEX HARDO isolation switch – reliable safety in Ex zones

HARDO’s Ex ATEX isolation switches are advanced devices that can also act as a main and safety switch (they are disconnectors and switches in the AC-23 and AC-3 use category).

Ex isolation switches have been designed for the safe and permanent disconnection of electrical circuits in gas and dust hazardous areas. Thanks to the use of high-quality components, robust modular construction and compliance with the requirements of the ATEX and IECEx directives, these circuit breakers are the ideal solution for industrial plant designers, machine manufacturers and end users for whom safety and reliability are a priority.

Disconnectors for motors, pumps, fans, dust collectors

Working in applications with high inertia

Service protection for maintenance work (LOTO compliance)

Disconnection of motors, transformers, heaters and inductive equipment

In combination with automation systems it can act as a power status indicator

Main contacts: 3, 4, 5 or 6

Auxiliary contacts:

NO / NO + NC / 2NO
